Track & Field
The Holy Trinity Track and Field team is an excellent opportunity for children in Grades 3 to 8 to improve their personal physical stamina and motor control in a group atmosphere while being a member of a team.  Track and Field is a spring sport.

All participants will learn proper warm up and stretching techniques, running strategies for different races and how to compete in field events.  Running events include sprinting races like the 100M, 200M, 200M Hurdles and 400M and endurance races like the 800M and 1 mile.  Field events include the standing long jump, running long jump, high jump, shotput and discus.

Track and Field meets are usually held on Sunday afternoons at various high school track venues including St. Anthony of Padua in Parma, Elyria Catholic High School and Westlake High School.

At each meet, every team member will typically compete in both field events and running events.  During the season, everyone is rotated to have a chance to compete in every event.  Toward the end of the season, athlete interest and performance are used to determine which events that athlete will compete in.

Practices are usually held twice a week at Avon Middle School Track and occasionally at other venues like Northgate Park.

These are all general guidelines to help you decide if Track and Field is right for your athlete.  Each year there are slight changes in events, venues and timing.
