Winter Sport

The Holy Trinity Avon CYO Basketball Program is open to boys/girls in grades 3-8. The program is available to all students enrolled in Holy Trinity Avon School or Holy Trinity PSR. We also offer CYO basketball opportunities for high school parishioners. Registration typically opens in early September and fees will be announced when registration opens.

Team Formation

Grades 3-5

If there are multiple teams in a grade level, we strive to balance teams evenly based on overall abilities. The sports commissioner and coach will attend at least one open gym with goal of creating evenly balanced teams.

Grades 6-8

If there are multiple teams in a grade level, players are placed on teams most closely coinciding with their abilities and skill level. An evaluation format of 2-3 independent evaluators is used to help in this process.

Practices + Games

Practices

Practices are typically twice per week typically beginning the first week in November.

Games

Games usually begin the last week of November/first week of December and seasons typically end in early to mid-February.

Candy Cane Classic

Holy Trinity Hosted Tournament

Holy Trinity hosts the annual Candy Cane basketball tournament throughout December and early January. The annual holiday tournament has become a tradition for many programs throughout Northeast Ohio. CYO teams from 3rd grade through high school are eligible to participate.
