Our program focuses on developing athletes in all aspects of track and field. Track events available at most track meets are the 1600m, 100m, 200m Hurdle, 400m, 200m, 800m, and a 4 x 100m relay. Field events available are the shotput, discus, running long jump, standing long jump, and high jump. There are age limits for some of the events. Practices start March 1, and meets will start toward the end of March. Practices are usually scheduled 2-3 days each week, attendance at meets and practice is not mandatory. The season usually consists of five regular season meets, with grades 2-4 competing on Saturdays, and grades 5-8 competing on Sundays. There will also be championship meets for grades 6-8. The season concludes by the third week in May. Participation in a track and field program is proven to enhance endurance, speed, and agility in other sports.
